The Lost Dogs' Home LogoThe Lost Dogs’ Home is the largest animal shelter in Australia. We receive over 31,000 dogs and cats to our shelters every year.

The Lost Dogs’ Home has its main shelter in North Melbourne, but also operates shelters in Cranbourne, Echuca and Wingeecarribee (NSW). It owns 12 animal ambulances which operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to rescue lost, injured and dumped animals.

Some of the services we offer are:

  • Shelter for lost, stray and abandoned dogs and cats;
  • Rehoming of cats and dogs through our adoption program;
  • The National Pet Registerfree pet registration, identification and recovery service;
  • Acceptance of unwanted pets for rehousing where possible;
  • Veterinary Clinic for the general public and to care for our shelter animals;

  • Animal Management Services (including Pound Services) for local governments in Australia;
  • 24 / 7 ambulance rescue service;
  • A broad range of Animal Control Services such as the humane trapping of stray and feral cats;
  • Boarding Kennels and Cattery;
  • Puppy pre-school training program;

  • Microchipping days for cats and dogs;

The Lost Dogs’ Home often campaigns in the media for fairer animal laws. The Home uses its profile in the media and community to fight for a better deal for animals without owners.
